His recent commercial and retail developments include the construction of the parking garage at 41 E. 8th Street and the rehabilitation of the warehouses at 1347 South State Street to premier lofted offices and classrooms. 
 
Harlan Karp, President of The SouthBlock Group. Mr. Karp founded The Group in 2004, which includes premier real estate development and management companies. SouthBlock has developed retail, office, industrial and residential properties and most recently completed a 50,000 square foot office building in the South Loop and a 6 acre industrial park redevelopment. SouthBlock's management portfolio includes over a million square feet of retail, office, industrial and residential real estate. Prior to SouthBlock, Mr. Karp formerly served as Director of Mergers and Acquisitions for KPMG and Price Waterhouse Coopers and spent a decade consulting companies around the world such as UPS, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse and GE Power Systems. Harlan is a graduate of The University of Wisconsin and is a CPA.
